Chief Medical Officers
The Portuguese Directorate-General of Health will organise the meeting of Chief Medical Officers to be held on 11th and 12th October at the Hotel Lusitano in Golegã.
At present, the Chief Medical Officer is the Director-General of Health, Dr. Francisco George.
The meeting of Chief Medical Officers is an informal meeting bringing together senior health officials of EU Member States; it is held twice a year, for the exchange of experiences and information, the presentation of specific reports by countries, and the sharing of perspectives on recent developments in the field of public health, policies and changes in health systems in EU countries.
The meeting also often involves the exchange of information on activities related to public health in the wider international context, such as the Council of Europe and the World Health Organization.
Along with the CMO of each Member State, representatives of the WHO-Europe, and the Council of Europe and DGSANCO will attend the meeting.
