DGS and OIM have trained Primary Healthcare Professionals in the field of Migration and Health

The IOM and the General Directorate of Health, within the scope of the online course "Migration and Health", had promoted during July and August, 4 synchronous sessions, aimed at professionals in Primary Health Care (administrative assistants, physicians, nurses, psychologists and social workers). 

These sessions aimed to clarify concepts and procedures and draw attention to specific issues related to the access of migrants to health care services. In addition, the sessions allowed the interaction between trainees and trainers and the clarification of doubts related to the four modules of the course: 1) Migration and Health; 2) Intercultural Mediation; 3) Psychosocial Aspects of Migration; 4) Right and Access to Health in Portugal. 

The sessions were well attended , with 226 trainnes in the first session, 180 trainnes in the second one, and 150 trainnes in the third and fourth session. 

The “Migration and Health” course is part of the project Promoting Integration through Equity in Health - Phase II, financed by the Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration (FAMI) and co-financed by the Directorate-General for Health.
